Yowza its been a hectic few weeks but i gathered no one wants to read about accounts.
On the player have been
New Tunng session and tracks, nine in fact. Excellent as you may expect , but there is a newie called Holiday, this could be a new genre FolkTrance or something.
Got to hear the new BPB/ Tortoise covers album, excellent and majored with a version of cavalry cross. Damn Fine.
New music from Women and Children that should nail a seven inch, if you dont know these please do check em' out. A nico led 4AD act from the good years , uplifting and morose at the same time!
The Library Music book on trunk is a must own if you have £30 to spend. Spelbinding artwork and a cd of the very best tracks.

greetings music people...

we've just finished up two new songs with scott solter (john vanderslice,
the mountain goats, spoon) behind the board...and i must say that i'm very
very happy with the outcome. it was recorded at scotts home studio and mixed
at tiny telephone and is being mastered as i write this.
each tune is around 10 minutes and will be part of a split cd with textile
ranch (which is glen from piano magic). it will be released on static
caravan next year.

Betweeen Past and Future, New Photography and Video from China 15 September 2005 to 15 January 2006 at the V+A is an excllent exhibition. Combine it with the Diane Arbus whilst your there. Lots of interesting images, some not so immediate and thats a good thing. Anyway recommended.

Blimey its a blend of radiohead/pink floyd and the Who but very now sounding. Ltd seven alert on this one. Also picked up a seven by BB Gun at RT, another doozy thats worth the full price admission.

Well i still rate Primer as just about this years best movie. Along with some very fine music documenteries. Dig! is very special even if you hate the Dandy Warhols and the Jandek dvd should be watched by all music lovers.

Watched Closer last night. Would have made a good play i say.
Clive Owen is pretty great as a schizo doctor , sex psychobabble fiend and Natalie Potman is his match as a lost soul looking for a future in dead ends. Jude Law stinks though. Worth a watch for Owen and Portman alone.

Just received the new Magnetophone 12s.
A beauty of a mix of benny's trip by sonic boom.
Nice.
Oh and yeah just as nice is the one sided 'pink' 12" vinyl its self.

Dont know a street date yet ill try and confirm if anyone wants to know.

Welcome to the Van

It lives!

It's been a long time but the Static Caravan Site has come back from beyond the grave, it's still at its old location on www.staticcaravan.org and we've put up all the releases that were out while the site was down.

The latest addition is this shiny new blog - feel free to comment onto this site, it's a two-way thing, or at least it should be...

Annnyway - Here's some news:

The Library Trust single is all but sold out as is the Krafla Lathe. I have maybe 5 copies of each left.

The Lakes single is now ready to go. This is a cracker of a 10” with a hand screened insert. The Strange Sounds Orchestra 7” is being packed this very weekend; Imagine a Joe Meek produced White Noise, a Radiophonic Workshop score for Phase Four or a Kraftwerk soundtrack to Performance. This is a parallel release with a book in celebration of those unusual musical instruments in our life with Foreword by John McEntire.

We also have ‘tote bags’. Yeah honest. Cotton bags with a purple logo, handy for the car booters amongst you as they are weightless and can hold a bunch of records as mine did last night for the Birmingham Peel Night. Thanks to everyone who turned out in support shelter. It was a grand and packed event.
