Vashti Bunyan - Lookingaftering , is pretty good and worth your attention. As is 'the return of mod jazz' compilation. Some strirring stuff on this Bill Doggers - 25 miles , funking groove worth admission alone.
I am starting to fall ever deeper into this Vashti album, its working its magik on me. Also been listening a lot to the new Animal Collective album. I never really got over the 'sounds like the beach boys' rep. It just doesnt to me, more a sonic youth going at a traditional tune like bonnie black hare. Still it has more than its merits and the band are marked out by the fact that their records need repeated plays to get to the heart of them and very few records manage that nowadays.
